Thinking    Of    You    The    Whole    Time

Dawn slowly opened the door to Ashley's bedroom and stepped inside. She noticed her sister laying on the bed, on her back, staring up at the ceiling blankly. She walked over and sat beside her sister. "Ashley, I'm really sorry about this."

Ashley looked at her sister out of the corner of her eye, which was blurred with tears. "Why did you do it, Dawn?"

Her sister pushed her hair behind her ears. "I don't know. I guess because I was jealous of you."

Ashley turned her head towards Dawn. "Jealous? Of me? There's nothing to be jealous of. I mean for Christ's sake, we're twins! There's nothing that I have that you don't."

Dawn looked down. "Yes, there is," she said. "You have Taylor. I tried to take him, but I lost."

"Why did you try to take him in the first place? I mean, didn't you stop to think for one-second about how that would make me feel?"

She shook her head. "No. Not really. I was only thinking of myself I guess. I'm so sorry Ash." Tears began to flow down Dawn's cheeks. She buried her face in her hands.

Ashley sat up and put her arm around her twin reluctantly. "Don't cry Dawn. Please?"

Dawn dried her face off with the sleeve of her shirt. "Do you forgive me?"

Ashley withdrew her arm from Dawn's shoulder and sighed. "It's going to take time. And you're going to have to prove to me that I will be able to trust you. You'll have to earn it. But eventually, I will."

Dawn nodded. "I know."

Ashley got off the bed and pulled her sister up with her. "Come on. There's no telling what Taylor and Zac are up to."

Dawn laughed through her tears. "Okay."

They walked downstairs and found the guys in the kitchen, munching on popcorn.

"Sorry. We got hungry." Zac said with a mouth full of popcorn.

"Yeah. But this is the easiest thing we could find to make. Don't your parents believe in no-bake products?"

Ashley shook her head. "Nope."

Dawn sat in the chair next to Zac and grabbed a handful of popcorn. "They like to make stuff together. Real food."

"So is everything straightened out now?" Zac asked.

Dawn shrugged. "I have a lot of apologizing to do."

Taylor got up and walked over to Ashley. "Are you still mad at me?" he asked, running the back of his hand over her cheek.

Ashley smiled and shook her head. "No."

Taylor took her hand. "Let's go for a walk." He whispered.

"Okay," she nodded. "Let me get my shoes."

She ran up to her room and reached into the wastebasket and grabbed the soccerball choker and the promise ring and shoved them into her pocket. She grabbed her shoes then headed back downstairs. She wasn't watching where she was going and rammed her arm, hard, into the banister, causing her to cry out in pain.

Taylor, Dawn, and Zac rushed into the living room. They noticed Ashley at the top of the stairs, holding her arm. Taylor ran up the stairs. "Ash, are you okay? What happened?" he asked and pulled her into his arms.

"I...I was coming ba-ck down th-the stairs an-and I hit m-my arm on th-the banister," she cried.

"Was it the arm you hurt at cheerleading practice?" Dawn asked, joining them on the staircase.

She nodded.

Taylor gently took her arm. She winced. "Can you move it?"

Ashley shook her head.

Taylor looked down at Zac. "Go get some ice to stop the swelling."

Zac nodded and went into the kitchen. Seconds later reappearing with a bag of ice wrapped in a washcloth. He handed it to Taylor.

"You probably broke it again." Taylor whispered as he ever so gently placed the ice onto her arm.

She winced again and bit her lip.

"Dawn, help me get her up," he instructed.

She nodded and held onto her sister's other arm as Taylor held onto her waist.

"Does she need to go to the hospital?" Zac questioned.

"Yeah." Dawn answered, walking her sister down the stairs and out the door.

Taylor sat in the waiting room, with Dawn and Zac, thinking about what had happened that day.

He had ridden his bike from his friend Blake's house when he decided to drop by the Smith's house and surprise Ashley.

He knocked on the door, lightly. About five minutes after knocking, Ashley finally came to the door.

"What are you doing here?" she asked coldly.

Taylor looked surprised. "I came to see you, baby. Did I come at a bad time?"

Ashley frowned. "You have some nerve Jordan Taylor Hanson!" she screamed at him, then slammed the door in his face.

Taylor stared in shock at the closed door, then barged in. "Ashley! What the hell is up with you? You haven't returned any of my phone calls, you never call me anymore, and you never come to see me! What did I do?"

Ashley stopped in her tracks and furiously turned to face him, tears streaming down her face. "How could you Taylor? How could you do this to me? I loved you so much, and you said you loved me. And you're going behind my back...with my sister!"

Taylor's eyes popped open. "What the hell are you talking about? I hardly ever see Dawn. Why are you crying? Come here," he reached out for her.

"Don't touch me!" she screamed and moved away from him. She sat down on the couch and buried her face in her hands, sobbing loudly.

Taylor knelt down in front of her and put his hands on her legs. "Ash, tell me what's going on and why you've been ignoring me," he said softly.

Ashley's bloodshot green eyes started into his confused sky blue eyes. He looked so clueless. "I saw you with Dawn last night. I had just gotten home from shopping with my parents and I was standing in the living room." Her tears were uncontrollable. "I saw you kiss her."

"Taylor!" a voice broke into his thoughts.

"Huh?" he looked up and saw Ashley and her doctor standing in front of him, a sling around her arm. He stood up, as well as Zac and Dawn.

"So?" Dawn said.

The doctor sighed. "It's broken in three places. Tell your parents that we need them to bring Ashley back when they have their insurance. She needs a cast on that arm."

Dawn nodded. "Yes, sir."

Taylor walked over to Ashley and gently put his arm around her waist, not wanting to hurt her. "You okay?"

She nodded. "Yeah. The doctor gave me some pain medicine. So it doesn't really hurt now."

Taylor smiled. "I get to be the first one to sign your cast."

"Then you better go with her when she gets it on because if I get to it first you won't have enough room." Dawn laughed.

"Hey, you gotta save some room for me and Ike." Zac whined.

Ashley laughed. "There will be plenty of room for both of you Zac. Don't worry."

"Good. Now let's get out of here! This place is giving me the creeps." Zac said, heading towards the exit.

They all followed him out the door, all eggier to get home and start over.

Taylor and Ashley walked behind their siblings. Taylor leaned over and whispered into her ear. "You know, even when it was Dawn and I together, when it should have been you and me, I thought it was you. I was thinking of you the whole time."
