Confused

After his headache subsided, Taylor decided to call Dawn and find out what time her cheerleading practice was. He could have very well have asked Jessica or Avery when it was, but he was afraid they would drag him into their bedroom, tie him up, and torture him.

"Hello?" an older voice said.

"Um...hi...is Dawn home?" he asked shyly.

"Yes, hold on a moment," the women, whom Taylor was guessing was Dawn's mother, replied. Taylor heard talking in the background but he couldn't make out what was being said.

Finally Dawn came on the line. "Hello?"

"Hey Dawn." Taylor said.

"Hi. Who's this?"

Taylor's heart fell. "It's Taylor. Taylor Hanson. You know, from the party last night?"

Dawn was silent for a minute. "Oh! Hey!" she laughed with embarrassment. "Sorry I'm kind of out of it today."

Taylor laughed with her. "It's okay. So anyway, the reason I called was because I was wondering when and if you had practice today. And if we were still on for pizza."

Dawn tensed. She looked around frantically for Ashley's schedule. Finally she spotted it on the coffee table near the phone. "Yeah we have practice at four today. It's early."

"Okay, cool. So are we still on for Pizza Hut?"

"Yeah, sure. Why not?"

Unknown to Dawn, Taylor was grinning for ear-to-ear. "Great!" he said a little too eagerly. "I guess I'll see you later, then."

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye."

"Whoa! Taylor! Wait!"

"Yeah?"

"Are you coming to practice?" Dawn asked nervously.

"Yeah." Taylor answered slowly.

"Well, call me Ashley there. Okay?"

"Um...okay. But why?" Taylor asked, totally confused as to why the girl couldn't make up her mind about what she wanted her name to be.

"I'll explain it to you at Pizza Hut," I'm defiantly telling him tonight before this gets out of hand. she thought.

"Okay. Later."

"Thanks Taylor. Bye now."
